We design and build new smart products using the capabilities already provided by public cloud providers’ AI services (speech, text and image recognition, recommenders, forecasting, etc).
Instead of adopting conventional machine learning approaches we use models pre-trained on a domain and tailor them with transfer learning to fast-track custom models that resolve specific customer problems using smaller datasets.
The fields of application of the models we get with this approach are extremely varied. They include video and image processing models for occupational health and safety, automatic assessment of the status of physical assets, text processing models for evaluating candidates in selection processes, advanced classification of documents such as tenders or contracts and knowledge discovery in databases for quickly building virtual assistants.
xAI – Explainable Artificial Intelligence
The most powerful AI models are viewed as black boxes because we cannot claim to know anything about their inner workings. This is a major challenge when we plan to use these models’ results to make decisions, particularly when personal data have been used for this purpose. XAI or “Explainable AI” is in the academic spotlight today as a field which delivers the transparency and confidence needed to make using these algorithms acceptable when privacy and compliance issues are paramount such as with the GDPR.
We are pioneers in exploring how to apply ante- and post-hoc XAI techniques to classification and scoring problems in which we have to provide the end user or beneficiary with the ability to understand the factors (and their possible interrelationship) which have impacted how they have been assessed.
Here at neuroons we appreciate the importance of developing fair and transparent models and taking care of the datasets used so as to anticipate untoward biases and providing production performance interpretation capabilities whenever possible.
